On a sidenote about contributing.... I made a small tool to design poly objects by fiddling with the coefficients and getting a near-realtime preview. I am not entirely happy with it, but it works and supports all povray polys (up to 7th order). It is written using PyQt (a really great tool for prototyping apps).
