They didn't, this is up for discussion. I see no need for changes to the Edu 
pages, Jos is suggesting more of a split, perhaps moving the science apps off 
to a separate page. The problem I would have with that is defining the split: 
take Kalzium and KStars - I use them as reference tools but they'd also be 
very good teaching apps.

The vocab ones are learning tools -> education

Some of the maths tools might also be useful for scientists, others are more 
education aids.

Some of the science tools are not (or not mainly) about learning - Cantor is 
more of an app for doing things than an app for learning things (imho). Really 
though, I'm more interested in the apps that don't feature at all on kde www 
at the moment: RKWard, Kile etc. Then I think we may as well add in other 
applications interesting to scientists so they can all be found in one place. 
I don't see any need to remove these from other pages.

To summarise the issue: as a scientist*, /if/ I find my way to 
http://www.kde.org/applications/education/ then 6 out of ~30 apps listed are 
relevant to me. Also, a lot of apps that could be relevant to me are not there 
and probably wouldn't fit well in the edu page (above mentioned RKWard etc).

* for this I've imagined I'm a scientist with very eclectic tastes in science 
software - personally I use 4 of them at all and only 2 really
