that's unfortunate indeed. we know that this process hasn't gone perfectly 
smoothly. people are trying to improve that and move things closer to perfect. 
it's a huge, if necessary, task. one that falls into an area that software 
communities are not traditionally very good at. so let's give ourselves the 
room we need to make the innevitable mistakes as we get to where we ought to 
be.

no, actually, we didn't. the plasma team used the terms consistently, 
particularly in the UI, and we documented what the terms meant. our position 
hasn't actually changed one bit during development. some of our enthusiastic 
users and supporters have used the terms in various ways, and that's to be 
expected: we don't exert restrictive control over casual communication and 
most people can't be bothered to ask those who know or read what they've 
written. personally, i'm at peace with that.
