Ok:
- "core set of KDE software products" - i.e. more than one, in fact they were 
listed in the section above in the article
- "these releases are called the KDE Software Compilation" - also true, if you 
need a word for the whole lot

The original intention (clear from the original proposal and also in the 
meeting where we fleshed all this out - but, it seems, not from the article) 
was to emphasise the products. But we recognised there *are* times when a 
group term (SC) is needed. Unfortunately, we didn't follow through the logic 
with the 4.4 releases and used SC in our announcement titles - although the 
announcement text did emphasise the products. For the 4.5 release day, we did 
separate announcements for each product group. For 4.5.1 we reverted 
(incorrectly) to the old formulation for the title.

And no doubt followed what we were doing upstream using SC in the announcement 
titles...

Taking your 4.5 announcement, I reckon these are ok:

Kubuntu packages available for KDE's 4.5 releases
Plasma Workspaces and KDE Applications 4.5 packaged for Kubuntu

(I don't think you need to mention the Platform - do most of your readers 
care?)

Or you could stick with your current formulation of referring to SC. It's 
technically correct and doesn't bother me particularly as long as the text 
explains that there are packages for the Plasma Workspaces, Applications and 
(if you like) Platform. I guess most Kubuntu users go mostly for KDE software 
anyway, so the everything together (SC) formulation is ok for them. What would 
be nice would be to get Ubuntu (i.e. GNOME focussed) press reporting the 
release of KDE Applications 4.5 - their users aren't going to care about the 
Plasma Desktop 4.5 but there are probably some KDE Applications they could 
use: Marble for example.
