Ok, so as I said, I've tried to distill a 'preferred proposal' for how we 
handle release announcements from all the various discussion. It's at the top 
of the document linked above and you don't need to sign in to see it.

However, this is just my viewpoint on the discussion. We need to get this 
right and we need buy-in from all the main people that will have to use it: 
people writing announcements - hello, Sebas ;-) - most people from promo who 
might be involved, anyone interested in translating and particularly people 
that have invested time in the branding up to now (hello Cornelius, Troy and 
Aaron, among others).

We need a consensus on whether this is how we're going to do things. I'm not a 
concensus :-)

So please, if you have a view, now is a good time to express it, either on the 
list or by making direct changes in the document.

Afterall, we're going to have to deal with 4.5.2 shortly.
