  Having lived in Southampton a few years back, i can certainly vouch for its 
ease of access - UK trains are notorious, but they're really only that bad 
when the British, who are world champions in complaining, have to talk about 
them as a method of arriving to work on time, so don't let that deter you ;)
  On top of this, Southampton is a pleasant sort of place in general, so on 
that account yes, very nice place :)

(plus i'd be able to get there by a short train journey ;) )
