Also, one HUGE opportunity for uniting the web dev community with KDE is in
writing Plasmoids.  Remember the Javascript Jam?  I'm no hacker here, but
it's my understanding that any competent web developer out there should be
able to use javascript to make cool Plasmoids. (

 So
to me an important question here is how to do we get that massive community
of web experts to come leverage this capability?  Even with a hugely
promoted competition on the topic we didn't get too many submissions iirc
but the Plasma Workspaces would all be even cooler than they already are if
we had lots more *useful* widgets available to install through
GetHotNewStuff.

I'd just like to add that sprints are setup to intentionally try to recruit
1-2 brand new KDE contributors for each event so if web development is your
thing I would strongly encourage you to follow up with Ingo and Stu about
this if they haven't finalized the funding situation for this sprint.
 Sprints are a great way to really get to become part of the KDE community
since you get the chance to meet people face to face and spend a large chunk
of time working together on stuff.  Attending a Promo sprint in 2009 was the
event that first made me feel like I had really become a part of the
community.

Yes, I wanted to mention something like this in the context of all your
emails.  We just don't have a load of people sitting around waiting for
something to do unfortunately (or maybe it's good that everyone is busy and
hard at work already?).  So don't get frustrated if you don't see loads of
people jumping to help with this stuff...especially when you present a
really ambitious plan that is not yet well defined into small manageable
tasks.
