promo sprint schedule

Hi all, As Stu mentioned in another thread I have been working on trying to setup a schedule of sorts for the promo sprint this weekend. At first I spent some time trying to figure out something specific to talk about in each "session" for the entire weekend but I quickly realized this is probably not a good approach. As a group we spend lots of time talking via email, and I personally I would like to avoid a weekend long meeting of just discussing/debating...we should be working instead! :) I checked with a few others who have planned sprints in the past and they agreed this is not a good idea. So what I propose is to spend Friday after everyone has arrived finalizing our list of things to do, discussing their relative priority and then having people pick what they want to work on. It seems that most people will be in by 1pm, so basically a half day. Then we break up Saturday and Sunday into 2-3 hour blocks of time to work on these things. I think the time limits can be loosely defined. They're really just to ensure people don't spend the entire weekend getting hung up on one thing and that we actually stop to eat lunch and dinner. We had also mentioned previously that the university wanted to setup a time to have students come for a presentation or discussion. Stu, do we have confirmed details on the time for this yet? If they're flexible I'd suggest they come Friday. We can give them a brief overview (live demo instead of slides sound good?) and then invite them to participate in the brainstorming of our tasks. It'd probably be cool to ask things like what might help convince them to get involved and how a promo team could reach out to their demographic, etc. Hopefully they get an itch to help with something after this discussion and decide to stop by over the weekend and work on it with us. Any thoughts? Btw, don't hesitate to add new ideas to the wiki if you think of something this week. Try to stick to concrete, achievable tasks like "create a wiki page that defines common kde terms" as opposed to vague things like "come up with a plan for world domination." The more we have thought about the tasks in advance the less brainstorming we'll have to do at the sprint and the more time we'll have to prioritize and work. -Justin _______________________________________________ This message is from the kde-promo mailing list.
