Community blogging competition

Hi,

One thing KDE misses is large amount of blogs/tutorials/how-to's written for
users ranging from newbies to intermediate (hope there is no need explaining
why such informal resources are necessary for any virtual community).

And we can do something about it with official community blogging
competition as a possible solution. From what i observed, top motivators for
many people could be:

*Personal support* - its a matter of ego, if you can feel people are happy
with what you are doing, it gets quite motivating :). It our, as KDE
community and promo, job to make sure blogger will get supported as they
deserve.

*Technical/SEO supprot* - If you have new blog, its going to take a lot of
time and wasted posts (in the beginning, none can find it - none will read
it) until it will get well ranked in google. Its demotivating for the author
and a big loss or KDE community. Official support with back links from *.
kde.org both, helps KDE users find new content as well back links from *.
kde.org gives credibility for site -> higher ranking -> more traffic -> more
people reading about KDE.

*Prizes support* - What kind of competition could be without prizes? :) A
weekly t-shrt, monthly usb-key, it doesn’t matter, as long as it motivates
people to blog about KDE.

Good examples of supporting projects in design community could be

Smashing
Network <http://network.smashingmagazine.com/>. Why shouldn't we have
network.kde.org ? :)
