KDE 4.7 announcement comments

Hi y'all

Reading the 4.7 announcement comments...

1. Little difference in content & tone between logged in and anonymous users

2. Beta, RC and release stories seem to attract more naysayers than
grateful users.

Based on these comments and those elsewhere, I came close to not
installing the new Kontact suite. The comments make it sound like the
applications don't work, there wasn't enough/any testing, better to
wait for something that works. So putting all that aside, I installed
it and am working through the issues. It took a bit of sleuthing to
get access at all. However, once that had been sorted out...it's
fantastic. Fast, purty, all sorts of goodies...some obvious, some in
appropriate nooks and crannies. I don't work in a heavy groupware
environment at the moment, but those capabilities appear to be
exceptionally good...equal to or better than anything I've ever used.

Here's the thing though...I am not going to try to address the whining
on http://dot.kde.org/2011/07/26/release-47-new-features-improved-stability-and-performance.
There's no point. There's no opening for a decent conversation. Thus
no opening for collaboration or cooperative problem solving.

I suggest that we turn off comments on this type of article and direct
people to forums or to:

I'm still in the process of fixing one final difficult problem. There
were a few clues in the forums; mostly I've just been digging &
thinking persistently. Nothing really too technical. It's working, but
not good enough yet. When I'll post my findings. Forums are good for
just that. Dot comment whining contributes less than nothing.

Maybe there should also be a suggestion for KDE devs to participate in
the forums, etc. if they want to hear what's going on and contribute.

Generally the comments and discussion are productive, but when the bad
drives out the good...not so much.
