Hi Sven.
Trinity exists because people are not happy about the *quality* of kde's 'maintained' branch. Because KDE released code which wasnt even 'good enough' (forget about guaranteed).
Now I dont want to get into a debate why this happened or what were kde's choices which would be offtopic (and I personally think kde took the right steps).

What matters is that KDE has two options here.
A) Support Trinity desktop and accept it as a part of KDE  ==> "KDE 3.x.y released by kde for those who still need it"
B) Dont support it.  => "Trinity, the forked KDE3, releases version 3.x.y"

I personally think our choice is obvious.
