There is a lot here (including the sponsoring brochure). It will take
a substantial effort to create a decent Dot story from what has been
provided. Publishing a quality story by tomorrow afternoon is quite
ambitious.

The etherpad content is a skeleton and offers little that might compel
JustFolks to donate. In contrast, the sponsoring brochure is
overkill...a brochure should be a page or two, not 23 pages. I'm
skeptical that the average reader would wade through the document and
be motivated to donate.

I'm happy to edit a draft, but I don't have the capacity now to write
what this project deserves.

Is there someone who will be attending Randa (or who has a good handle
on the present Randa situation) who can put together the salient parts
of the story? That is, considering the intended audience for the
funding appeal, what is the story? Perhaps someone could go through
the material and provide some history and context. Write about what's
important this year, why fundraising is needed this year and not
previously. What are the goals? Bring forth some of the tasty quotes.

There also may be kde-promo people or dot-editors who may be able to
pull together a persuasive funding appeal from the material provided.

Clearly, a lot of work has gone into producing what has been provided.
For a Dot story, it needs to be refined to appeal respectfully to
potential donors. Who is expected to donate? What will the average
donation be? What do donors get out of it? They are not stupid and
they won't respond well to being patronized. The results produced by
previous Randa meetings have meaning internally to KDE; probably not
so much for regular users.

There's a compelling story here. It'll take some work to get it in
shape. If someone is willing to write a draft, I'll work with them and
edit it when it's done.
