Aside from the fact that there is no KDE 4 since a couple of years (can our 
own guys please get terminology right?), which meaning would the major version 
number have? Currently it correlates to the Qt version the software is based 
on.
A big new feature of which application would dictate the version jump?
Why not simply use date-based version numbers? It's not like all applications 
share the same version number anyway…
