Ok about redesign/recommunication - we in the VDG has been sort of pushing for one for a while - with some initial snags every here and there. As for outside communication - there are a ton of tricky bits that need to be addressed. Do the KDE community want a change of communication? I mean for you and me Harold, a change in communication is obviously needed and I think we both see why the current state of communication is sort of lackluster but we still have to "flow to the whim of the great magnet" and see more clearly how KDE as a whole want this to go. From my POV - KDE's communication may be brilliant if you are technically minded. I don't know since I'm not technically minded. The dot, paradoxically has always been where I went for info and then read between the lines essentially. Not because its great, but because it is the news source available. Aside from that we do have to, as you (Harold) point out, rely to press which of course moves communication straight out of our hands. What all this essentially boils down to is what the KDE community want from communication and in the long run what the aim for KDE should be. This is a subject we have talked at length about but its a very uphill thing. For the people INSIDE the community the issue seems often to be "how to get people to read our things" instead of "how to write things people would like to read" - and then the natural debate of what "people" you are talking about pops up again. We managed to push through "simple by default, powerful when needed" in regards to Plasma - as some kind of focus to fling a coat - but even that is fairly... lets just say that as communication goes its something that may be popped on businesscards but not actually communicated. My point is: we have a severe problem with communication (with all that communication entails, inside and out) and even though there are a few quick fixes they are gaffa tape slapped on the holes of Hoover Dam. But this has to be something that comes from the community in some way - as one single thing instead of smaller entities putting out the most disastrous fires when they flare up.
