What that takes is a small team of people to take charge and keep it fresh and relevant. I'd just like to throw in the fact that most people who try Linux, are usually somewhat technically-minded, or have a support person who is. Usually those who use KDE on WinMac are techies as well. So I believe our "regular users" are techies. > Since no one has mentioned this in this thread yet, I would like to throw > out there that a possible outlet for this type of communication may already > exist in Userbase. For instance, when we wrote the Amarok User Manual, that's where we wrote it, and where we keep it updated. There is a plugin that allows for translations, and a script that pulls all of that when it's time to roll the next release. Not all teams use it like this, but it is for user-facing information. Not boring when you are trying to figure out how to make best use of your playlists, for instance! Nor stagnant, at least in the case of Amarok. If teams have stagnant pages there, then indeed they should be updated. I would not like to see Community and Userbase intermixed without a mighty good plan. The Community wiki is really useful, and I would not like to see those pages mixed into Userbase. I use it all the time in Student Programs, such as SoK, GCi, and GSoC. Plus we use it for organizing sprints, for Akademy, and other meetings. So for nows, the Community wiki sounds useful when there needs to be interaction rather than just broadcast of information. > In essence we have the Dot, which is pretty good in it's current state - > essentially an official news outlet with relevant content well positioned on > the landing page. We encourage all active KDE community members to connect their blogs to the Planet, and properly tag KDE-relevant posts.
