Feature request: Batch processing and more

Hi
being working on the icelandic translation of Gwenview, I've
been trying to use most of its features. Good program which
could become THE tool for handling images on Linux distros.
I used to work a lot with IrfanView in Windoze, main
advantage being it's robust (multiple) batch processing
dialogue. You can batch rename/scale/sharpen/copytofolder
selected images - all in one operation. This is neat,
keeping your originals in one place, and batch process your
web images in one go. This multiple batch dialogue is
something I'd like to see in Gwenview, maybe it's more of a
KiPi thing though.
Another neat thing in IrfanView is the ability to choose
which date/time to use when handling images (based on EXIF
and file info); saving with original exposure date or file
date or date of choice; all are possible.

Im not asking Gwenview to imitate a Windows program, I'm
just advancing what I find as good/useful features. Maybe
some of these are already possible, me not finding them or
working with old release (1.3.1).

Oh, almost forgot; being able to compare (at least two)
images (or portion of) in full screen; a must have for
selecting wich image to keep or to use.

Othervise I think Gwenview is pretty good, distancing itself
from DigiCam which is and should be more of a
DigitalCameraAutomationTool for the average snapshooter.
This is not pretensious; I think DigiCam should focus on
simplicity, creation of collections, archiving and such -
maybe even more of a Konqueror like integration (read
Windows-like). The arhiving thing is of course a huge topic
affecting digital photography in general, thus probably
Gwenview also. How to handle ever growing number of images,
shipping to external drives or burning on disks, all without
loosing track of your stock - this is the organisational
hell we're (already) bound to face. Good ideas concerning
this will be of value.
