Hello, I have been working lately on optimizing the loading of large jpeg images( more than 2 times your screen size in both directions). It works by skipping some pixels while loading, leading to much faster load times at the cost of some precision. If your image is 2816x2112 and your screen is 1280x800, the image needs to be shown at 37% of its original size to fit the screen. In this case, Gwenview now loads the image at 50% of its size (1408x1056) and scale this image by a factor of 74%. If you zoom to 50% and more, then Gwenview loads the full image. If your image needs to be shown at 20% of its original size, Gwenview would load it at 25% of its size, and as you zoom in load a 50% version, before loading the full image if you continue to zoom in. This is only for display purpose: when you modify the image by rotating, cropping or scaling it, the whole image is loaded. As you may have guessed, this makes the loading code quite a bit more complicated, and it's quite possible that some regressions got introduced. So as always, I would like to ask you to test latest svn to track and report those regressions.
