Yes. I would like to implement something similar to iPhoto and Aperture: 
  when you select multiple images in the thumbnail bar, they all get 
displayed in the main area (maybe I will have to set some limit on the 
number of images displayed at the same time, though) allowing for easy 
comparisons.

This should not require developer skills, you need to:
- Create a new .desktop file in gwenview/app/ dir (getting inspired by 
slideshow.desktop)
- Declare your .desktop file in gwenview/app/CMakeLists.txt.
