This begs a couple of questions.

Given that k3b monkeyaudio plug-in can't be included in Debian as Free 
software:

Shouldn't k3b alert the user to incompatible plug-ins?

If the plug-ins included with Debian for k3b could be built without 
/usr/lib/libhal.la, why couldn't the k3b monkeyaudio plug-in be built 
without /usr/lib/libhal.la?
