What I forgot to mention was that the cddb error was with version
k3b-1.0.1-6.1 but was still there when I downgraded temporarily to
version 0.12 (something) from the same suse repositories. That indicates
a problem with this laptop or the packaging, but I don't know how to
tackle it.
