Failed burning in k3b with dma, still gives errors

Since the last update ( in gentoo) i'm ruining cds like i never did before :P


a friend told me that has something to do with the kernel (also updated) 
and the dma being disabled.

i did:
# hdparm -d 1 /dev/hdc

/dev/hdc:
 setting using_dma to 1 (on)
 using_dma     =  1 (on)

and the message disappeared.

but when i tried to burn a cd ( i really really need to burn one, so i can 
revive my laptop!  ) k3b starts writing and then fails.
