I use CD Burner XP Pro (http://www.cdburnerxp.se/) over on the
Windows side (XP runs as a virtual machine).  I have found that
once I have touched a disk with Windows, K3B has troubles.

There is a chance that it may be your drive, but I'd get
a different brand of (blank) disks (not Memorix) before going
through the expense of a new drive.

I would love to know what you eventually find out.
