ISO burning problem

Recently I downloaded the ISO for Kubuntu 8.10. I burned it using k3b on
a Kubuntu box. I used a Plextor drive to burn it. I checked the MD5 sum
and it matched, so I believe I got a good download. But when I burned a
disk, I ran into problems. I checked the disk for errors, and it had
errors. So I tried to burn another one, and this time had k3b check it
for errors. Again, it burned it with errors. So I copied the ISO file to
a Windows XP machine which had the exact same modle of Plextor burner,
burned it with Nero, and had no problems.

So I assume there is something I am not doing right, or some undiagnosed
problem, on my Kubuntu machine or with k3b. What steps should I take to
resolve this? I would like to move all of my computing over to the open
source platform.

Thank you,
