That is not the sole purpose of userbase, although it certainly does hope to
provide that facility. Userbase was, from the start, seen as the counterpart
to techbase, a place where a user would look for kde-related information at
user level, not as a developer.
One problem that users find overwhelming is that the information available is
spread over so many different places. I've been using KDE for upwards of 6
years and have been amazed, since I became involved with this project, just
how much information is on the web that I never found as a user.
There has to be one powerful jumping off place, even if it leads the user to
other sites for more complex information. To quote from the page "What is
Userbase?"
Here you will find
* Pages dedicated to applications - Explore features that you never
knew existed!
* Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
* Tutorials and Guides - Getting things done, and solving problems
* Tips and Tricks - make your life easier and more pleasant
You will not find
* Technical pages, mostly used by developers - though you will find
many links to http://techbase.kde.org/
* "Official" Documentation - found on kde.org or on application home
pages
I hope that makes clearer what we are trying to do. It's certainly not
intended to be just a flashy advert for KDE. It sets out to be a tool to help
users get the best, most enjoyable experience out of using KDE applications.
