The process consuming this much memory is indeed:

  /usr/bin/akonadi_kabc_resource --identifier akonadi_kabc_resource_0

looking at it with the akonadiconsole, it is indeed the ldapkio address book.
It contains ~187k objects, and has a size of 2.7 MB.

Is there a more lightweight way to handle large LDAP address books?
I mean... if all of this is kept in a data base (mysql) eventually, it should
not be resident in main memory, right?
