It seems to me that Kmail isn't waiting for Akonadi to start up and so, if Akonadi isn't running already when you try to start Kmail on KMail 4.8.1 / KDE 4.8.1, on Fedora 16, you'll get an error that Akonadi is not running. HOWEVER, if one were to go to a console window, type "akonadictl start" and wait for it to get done starting everything up, THEN start Kmail, it will start right up, and you can close that console window and everything will work fine. I'm still having other issues, though. Things like my IMAP server not loading message bodies when I switch messages after several hours. Not sure what's going on there. Any ideas? I can switch to my local mail folders and read messages there, but it seems like the system doesn't recognize I'm changing messages on my IMAP server, even if I leave the IMAP folder, go to a local folder or a different IMAP account (I have two IMAP accounts) and then back to the primary IMAP account, I still can't change messages sometimes unless I close KMail, kill akonadi, RESTART Akonadi manually, then start KMail. OTOH, at least I'm not losing my filters any more! All in all, though, I would rather lose my filters every time, and have a responsive system! *sigh* I REALY wish the developers would stop adding new features and settle the system down. I still don't understand why an email client NEEDS a database! _______________________________________________ KDE PIM users mailing list Subscription management: https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-users
