KDEPIM 4.7.4

I've finally decided to upgrade to Kubuntu 11.10 which meant moving over to 
KDEPIM 4.7.4. On the whole I'm happy with it, but there are a few things I've 
noticed that are annoying me.

1) Filtering of emails doesn't seem to be working, but I can filter messages 
using the apply all filters option in the menu.

2) I have a local mbox account set up so that I can view system messages from 
my /var/mail account, but I keep getting pop up messages saying something 
about being modified.

3) The context menu sometimes initially flickers when right clicking on 
something in KMail.

4) There no longer seems to be the option to send an email in the context menu 
of a folder. I used to use this if I wanted to send an email to a mailing list 
like this one.

5) The whole mark message as important and also having a "message tag 
important" option in the same menu is confusing.

I was thinking about adding the Kubuntu backports PPA to get KDE 4.8.2, but 
was unsure if this would fix any of the above without adding its own bugs.

Would someone be able to advise?
