read status of e-mails

Hallo

After a pause of almost half a year I tried kmail2 again. If I read a new mail 
the status of this mail is set to read in kmail but not on my imap server. If 
I open the same mail folder with another program (i.e. thunderbird) the mail 
is still unread. When does kmail set changed mail status values? Can I 
configure this time?
