Those versions were released more than 2.5 years ago. There have been 6 minor 
releases and many more patch releases since then, the most recent release 
being 4.14.3.

kaddressbook uses Akonadi since more than 5 years already. The other 
applications use Akonadi since more than 3.5 years. In the beginning there 
were a lot of problems with Akonadi, but nowadays most problems are history. 
You should at least update to 4.13.

By the way, before you rant about an application you should make sure that you 
use the latest version. Otherwise, none of the developers will take your rant 
seriously (or even read it).
