Sonofagun - that's it! I thought that setting dictated the word-wrap right-column boundary regardless of composer window width. Now I wonder how my mails looked to everyone all these years - only saving to Drafts seems to have ever been affected by the setting.

Now I'll have to see how my other mails (non-drafts) behave.
