It is. I did not really find a nice approach, but:

% ls -1 | xargs -n1 konsolekalendar --calendar 446 --import

worked good enough for me. It took more than one hour, partly likely due 
to >5000 times running konsolekalendar command :)

This could be it:

% akonadictl fsck
 1/19 Looking for collections not belonging to a valid resource...
 2/19 Checking collection tree consistency...
 3/19 Looking for items not belonging to a valid collection...
Found 5630 orphan items.
Moved orphan items to collection 456

However this could also be due to me removing the original ical dir 
resource and adding a new one with the same directory to see whether that 
works.

as I think icaldir resource should behave the same as maildir or contacts 
resource.
