I assume you are addressing me with that question even though you
replied to Rainer's message, not mine.

I use Google Chrome, not Firefox.  But this behavior (open in
background) has been the way kmail has worked for years with any
browser.

By the way, I somehow managed to create a duplicate bug report and the
one that Rainer subscribed to is the canceled duplicate.  The active
bug is https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3D503073 .
