Yes, this daemon is a difficult one... I thought it is possible to quit it 
now, since we had some discussions with the author about it ;-)

Did you already try the following?: Right mouse click on the kpersonalizer 
icon in the system tray, choose 'Configure Alarm Daemon...'. There I have an 
option 'Start alarm daemon automatically at login', which is checked. Usually 
the alarmd shouldn't be restarted at your next login.
'Quit' works only for your current session.

Mmh, never heard about that... and I am not sure what this does :-( Better 
your remove it, if my first suggestions works.
