Yes, this daemon is a difficult one... I thought it is possible to quit it now, since we had some discussions with the author about it ;-) Did you already try the following?: Right mouse click on the kpersonalizer icon in the system tray, choose 'Configure Alarm Daemon...'. There I have an option 'Start alarm daemon automatically at login', which is checked. Usually the alarmd shouldn't be restarted at your next login.
