You seem like a user who is willing to put some effort in to get the benefit
they want. I respect the progress you have made w/ centipede (both with this
list's help and, as is clear, on your own). As such....

Are you "brave" enough to try the "new improved (but not so
complete/stable)" centipede in CVS HEAD? That is very much a work in
progress -- it has less antlibs (the new name for cents), it has less
stability .... that said, it *does* rely upon older XERCES/XALAN
implementations (it doesn't ship them). Basically the new centipede depends
upon the ant/user environment for much much more, rather than shipping it's
own.

If you are game, some thoughts/cautions:

1) DO DO DO DO -- start this as a parallel project! Do not try to replace
what you have working. This is experimental.
2) You'll need a nightly (or recent) ant -- the ant1.6 beta or whatever,
from CVS or nightly.
3) Don't set your expectations too high, we don't have all the same cents
working.
4) Nick knows there are still classlaoder woes w/ ant (just -- probably --
not this one)
5) Post requests for help/feedback to the
[email protected] list, not users.
6) DO DO DO DO -- start this as a parallel project! Do not try to replace
what you have working! -- oh yeah, I said that.

Again, only do this is you are interested in the benefits of centipede for
including antlibs (cents) yours and/or existing, and so forth.

Nick, feel free to comment on if this is a dumb idea, especially since we
don't have docs/whatever (& your Friday experience).

  I am using j2sdk1.4.1_03. Also, I am specifying xalan.jar, xerces.jar in
the module.xml. 
  I was initially using the junit.cent. But it was giving me error too.
Hence, I tried writing my own target.
  I was getting the following error output while trying to use it as a cent.

Which JDK are you using.

the cent  command uses a different classpath than the ant uses. 

So it is not finding the needed jar.  probably xalan or xerces or w3c.

Have you tried using the junit.cent  with the built in <test>  target ?
