The java is being invoke with a CL program that uses STRQSH CMD(&CMD) where &CMD contains all the values for executing java with the classpath, and other variables needed by the java program. The CL program is called quite a few times but it is near the end of process for encrypting file in the IFS. I will run a test where I call the Encryption program multiple times in the CL program without ending the CL program to see if the executions after the first one is much faster. How are you invoking the java? Are you loading a new instance every time? My personal recommendation is to create a java server that's launched on system start up. The server code listens on a data queue. Native code would then send a message to the server via the data queue and get it's response there. That way you incur the java startup penalty once. david -- I'm riding in the American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure to raise money for diabetes research, education, advocacy, and awareness.
