Splash screen with timeout and invite, in MI?

For over a decade, we've had a splash screen on our QuestView product, 
which was originally put in as the easiest way to determine, one way or 
another, whether the terminal was 132-column-capable (since InfoWindow 
II terminals can have that capability disabled, without affecting the 
model-ID code that shows up in [if memory serves] the Open Feedback).

Now, we want to put some meaningful information in the splash screen, 
but to do that, we'd like it to sit there for a specific number of 
seconds, but also give the user an option to (1) dismiss it, by pressing 
<enter>, or (2) hold it indefinitely, until dismissed, by pressing 
something else. It sounds possible, presumably using "invite," but I'm 
not sure of the mechanics, especially in MI.

As it is, I *think* it already comes up in an "invited" state, as the 
keyboard is unlocked (albeit ignored).

When I get a chance, I'll post code snippets from the MI and DSPF source 
members. Probably shortened, but relatively uncensored.
