Everyone:

It is a delicate thing to propose a spec change on somebody else's
project -- even so when the additional input has been requested. It
would be very easy for the UNICODE discussion to become overheated.

So I wanted to repeat two things loudly:

1. I think that C-- is a great piece of work as-is!!

2. My thoughts on UNICODE were sent in response to a semi-question from
Norm Ramsey. If they are not helpful, or if they would present a
distraction to the current priorities of the community, they should
   be set aside.comment.

One thing that I have NOT done is attempt to reduce my long posting to a
set of concrete textual recommendations for the specification. Since
this week is start of semester, things are a little hectic, but I will
attempt to do this some time this week.

It seems likely that the changes are very small, and we will all look at
them in hindsight and wonder what the big deal was.
