I am in favor for anything which is W3C-standard compliant. The current
version of XOOPS isn't. Check using the W3C validator. It's not needed to
always stick to the *latest* standard, but sticking to *any* standard will
guarantee the best performance with any browser. Furthermore we should keep
the website(s) compatible to visually or otherwise impaired people (which
usually goes hand-in-hand with the W3C-standard compliance).

Is a HTTP redirect unfeasible? I think this would be the best method -
despite mod_rewrite, of course.
I am network admin in a PC pool including a webserver for over 6 years and
could perhaps help you whenever problems arise - or even without explicit
problems ;)

I am for an archive plus removal of those which are contained in the current
API Library. This is mainly to not confuse anyone. Perhaps we could move
those files under MPL to the FRS of jedi-apilib to create the archive?

Rewrite and move to new website or better the SF.net website - which should
of course be linked from the new main website!

Actually I think that we should perhaps create some kind of "JEDI-style" for
the homepages which will be adopted by all the project websites. Each
project should have a website which describes the project, provides
downloads and lists the members and possibly the maintainers of the
releases. Maybe it is not very stylish, but I've done it for:
http://jedi-apilib.sourceforge.net/ and there have not been any objections,
yet. It's functional, it loads fast, it provides you with the information
needed. If not you have the option to contact us.
^^ Style does not refer to the visual style primarily.

Leaving the website for each project to the respective teams allows to keep
up a website without having to grant access to the main website. Furthermore
each project will develop some kind of identity and updates may occur more
often.

On the main site we should, however, list all projects with a short
description, link to their site and provide the quick download links (which
should be static as is shown on the above mentioned website).

For news we could have some group of news "posters" who are known to all
teams. Whenever a team feels the need to post news to the main site they
have to contact this group and the fastest of them will take over the task
of actually posting the news. Alternatively one could create some mechanism
to allow posting to anyone, but the changes appear only after approval.
Perhaps embedding the whole website into some kind of Wiki and protecting
some areas would also do.

It is even possible to create a Mini-CMS just for the purpose of easy
maintenance of the project websites. Something I could do, but which would
take me a while. I'd use BB-Code-like style-tags and the header/footer would
be included from static files.
