What then? I saw what minor optimizations, in the compiler a memmgr that came out of the
open source world, and some replacing of assembly with also opensource
(fastcode) versions.

Surely a good sign that there is some movement since D6 again, but to call
minor maintenance that even the FPC team pulls off in a few months, and that
is mostly copied from external sources _BIG_?

I'm not in to speculating. I focus on what I see when I put down my money. I
might be midly swayed by spectacular beta's, but in the end it all comes
down to what is released. And when.
