Desktop Enviornment

Hi all,

I am trying to develop a Desktop Enviornment on linux ( like KDE or 
GNOME ). But I donno where to start. I saw Desktop Evniornment 
written in kylix2 open editon ( www.xpde.com ). 

Any help tutorial or where to find them would be helpful..
