Same as in Windows. Some part of app is to be a separate .exe running with  
admin grants.
(services in WinNT, daemons or SUID'ed applications in Unix)
User-land application asks that admin-land server with requests via some  
communication pipe, such as D-BUS, Unix sockets, TCP/IP sockets, etc.
