I personally don't think anyone is going to get a "general abstraction" of
programming by knowing how to write "Hello World" in asm, VB and and and....

"General abstraction" is achieved by understanding a technology, take oop
for example, to know how to write an object in java is not general
abstraction, but to understand what an object is, is general abstraction.
Once you know what an object is, then you can apply that knowledge to any
language once you know the syntax....
