The 2011.1 release ran on Snow Leopard.

I think I recently got the headers that I required for building against
10.6 on Mountain Lion ... I may give it a try.  The issue is that our
threading support needs something that isn't available in a fast way on
Snow Leopard, hence requiring Lion or later.
