it will be easy to derive your own class from XM_FORMATTER, adding

They are not attributes, they are namespace undeclarations (which are
only valid in XML Names 1.1, which Gobo doesn't support yet).
So it looks like a bug in the namespace fixup process to me, since you
have voided all the namespaces.
I have to stress though, that I am not very familiar with XM_FORMATTER.

Do you have an XM_NAMESPACE_RESOLVER in your filter chain? If so, have
you called set_forward_xmlns (True) on it? I think for your
application, the answer should be no in both cases (as you are not
making use of namespaces).
