Error Compiling gexslt

Guys,

While installing release 3.8 on Red Hat Linux I encountered the
following error:

In file included from gexslt43.c:1:
gexslt.h:385:16: gc.h: No such file or directory

for every generated c file. I'm using gcc 2.96.
