I agree. But it would be nice to have the option of ecb as sometimes I
have to compile a large amount of programs (for which EiffelStudio
isn't well suited, I know), and SmartEiffel is no longer usable as it
doesn't work on 64 bit, and gec doesn't have debug mode.

I also think the option should go in the system.xace, not in
built.eant.

But wouldn't it be easier to add another setting to build.eant, let's
say:

  compile_ecb

So compile_ise uses ec, compile_ecb uses ecb.

That way people can switch and hopefully it becomes clear that ecb is
a very different beast from ec.
