This might sound like a great attraction, but it can also be a
significant shortcoming for some.

We are in an increasingly confused state as to what constitutes a
"prior publication". Workshops were often not considered prior pubs.
But there is at least one strong line of thought that says "if a paper
has appeared in the ACM DL, then it should be considered a prior pub",
thereby precluding subsequent publication of the paper in a regular
conference. This can adversely affect some authors who now have to
choose between two venues, whereas before they could present the same
ideas more informally at a workshop and then more formally at a
regular peer-reviewed technical conference.
