Currently luacheia uses the vanilla Lua binaries under all platforms
where
the SDL module works, except under MacOS X (AFAIK). This is because the
application needs to open an IPC connection (using a Mach port) to the
WindowServer process on startup, so it can use the the windowing
capabilities
of MacOS X. Under MacOS X a custom interpreter linked against some system
libraries is automatically built from vanilla _sources_ (you can take a
look
at the luacheia/tools/macosx directory for details).

I have been using the module recently. It is very useful to make quick
prototypes of applications that will be using SDL. I have been adding
the neccessary checks in "configure.ac" to enable SDL_image support, too.

Bw happy,
