You may want to clarify what you mean by "commercially distributed". GnuMP is distributed under the dual LGPL and GPL. This means that you cannot distribute GnuMP with your product, and you must dynamically link to an existing installation of GnuMP. (As opposed to distributing a monolithic binary, or software package.) That said, so long as MLton does not statically link your application to GnuMP, you should be fine. I hope that helps.
