It looks like you're basically correct: LGPL licensed software can be 
distributed with a commercial (or otherwise) product, provided that the 
conditions outlined in the LGPL license are satisfied. The details of 
the LGPL are available here: https://www.gnu.org/licenses/lgpl.html. 
Sorry for any confusion I may have caused.

As I read it, it looks like the LGPL does require that there be a way 
for the end user to both modify and relink GnuMP to the combined 
(proprietary) work. Depending on how the proprietary/commercial product 
needs to be distributed (e.g. statically vs dynamically linked 
application), the relinking requirement might be an issue?

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
